December 19, 2025, 94, Goldsboro – MB Gentry, 94, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 19, 2025.
MB is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Annetia Gentry, along with their children: Pam Long, Patty (Tony) Watson, Tim Gentry, and Mark (Holly) Gentry. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jason (Kari) Long, Jonathan (Jennifer) Long, Colt Montgomery, Danielle Gentry, Chandler (Courtney) Gentry, Scott Gentry, and Taylor Gentry; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
MB was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Retta Gentry, his brother, William, and his sisters: Jean, Louise, Marie, Alene, and Betty Ruth. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lynn Gentry, and two sons-in-law, Merl Long and Mark Montgomery.
MB was born on November 25, 1931 in Mt. Pisgah, Arkansas. MB grew up attending church with his family, and dedicated his life to the Lord early. He graduated from Pangburn High School (Class of 1950), and went on to serve four years in the US Air Force during the Korean War, where he received various medals.
MB attended the University of Arkansas, where he studied civil engineering. After graduation, he worked for the Arkansas Highway Department, later holding the Chief Engineer position at Varco Pruden, before opening his own civil engineering construction business in Goldsboro.
MB’s journey on this earth was one marked by love, finding fulfillment in his work, and his unwavering faith in the Lord. He served in various leadership roles at multiple churches and other ministries throughout his life.
Those who got the chance to meet MB know that he was passionate about his relationship with Christ, his love for his family, and the Arkansas Razorbacks. MB never met a stranger and always had a story to share.
In lieu of flowers, the Gentry family requests contributions to be made in MB’s memory to Gentiva Hospice of Goldsboro or any charity that is close to your heart in his honor.
Visitation will be held at Seymour Funeral Home on Monday, December 22 from 6-8pm. A graveside service to celebrate MB’s life will be held at Willow Dale Cemetery on Tuesday, December 23 at 11am with military honors. Pallbearers: Tim Gentry, Mark Gentry, Chandler Gentry, Tony Watson, Jonathan Long, and Jed Honn. Honorary pallbearers: Jason Long, Colt Montgomery, and Scott Gentry.
