December 16, 2025, 70, Goldsboro – Donald Garland Ginn, 70, went home to be with his Lord early Tuesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, surrounded by the love of his family. Donnie, as he was affectionately known to many, was born in Wayne County on February 10, 1955, to the late Garland Jackson Ginn and Iris Lucille Tingen Ginn.
A natural-born salesman, Donnie possessed a rare gift for connecting with people and excelling in whatever he set his mind to do. He proudly retired from Tillman’s Restaurant Equipment and Supplies in Goldsboro, where his dedication, work ethic, and personable nature left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.
Donnie’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. A faithful and devoted member of Saulston Community Church, he was actively involved in numerous ministries. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and President of the Men’s Fellowship, and for many years shared his love of music through the church choir and the Men’s Ensemble. His service to the church was a reflection of his deep commitment to God and his church family.
Family meant everything to Donnie. He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, a proud and caring daddy, and a cherished Papa. His grandchildren were truly his pride and joy, and he delighted in every moment spent with them, always ready to support, encourage, and cheer them on.
Donnie also found great fulfillment in coaching and mentoring children through the church league for many years. He generously gave his time assisting with baseball, t-ball, soccer, and softball, touching countless young lives with his encouragement, patience, and positive spirit. In his quieter moments, Donnie enjoyed playing golf and spending time on the links with his friends, where laughter, fellowship, and friendly competition were always part of the day.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall at Saulston Community Church, followed by a service to celebrate Donnie’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary, with Pastor Jeff Severt officiating. Interment will follow in the Patetown Cemetery.
Donnie is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Pam Ginn; his daughters, Miranda Rackley and husband Scott, and Carey Hinnant and husband Alan; and his beloved grandchildren, Jack Rackley, Cameron Rackley, Cooper Hinnant, Benny Hinnant, and Hudson Hinnant.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Saulston Community Church family for the love, prayers, and support shown during recent months, and to the compassionate staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the exceptional care provided to Donnie and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Donnie’s memory to Saulston Community Church, 4620 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
