GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A sea of red, white, and blue will once again become one of Goldsboro’s most inspiring sights as the Goldsboro Rotary Club presents its 6th Annual Field of Honor®, transforming downtown into a powerful tribute to the men and women whose service and sacrifice have strengthened the nation and the local community.
For the first time, the Field of Honor® will be displayed in downtown Goldsboro, relocating from its previous home at Wayne Community College as part of a growing collaboration with NC Freedom Fest. The new location is expected to provide greater visibility and allow even more visitors to experience the moving display.
The annual tribute features hundreds of United States flags standing proudly in formation, each representing an individual whose life reflects the values of courage, service, and dedication. Community members are invited to sponsor a flag in honor or memory of an active-duty military member, veteran, first responder, or someone who has made a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
Each sponsored flag includes a personalized dedication tag, creating a unique and heartfelt tribute. After the display concludes, sponsors will receive both the flag and its dedication tag as a keepsake honoring their loved one or hero.
Flag sponsorships are available for $40, with proceeds benefiting the charitable work of the Goldsboro Rotary Club and Rotary International. Funds raised support community initiatives locally while also helping Rotary improve lives through humanitarian projects around the world.
“The Field of Honor® is more than a display of flags—it is a community expression of gratitude,” said Ashley Fleming, Field of Honor Chair for the Goldsboro Rotary Club. “It provides an opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to publicly recognize those who have served and sacrificed while supporting Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self.”
The Goldsboro Field of Honor® is made possible through the support of sponsors, donors, and volunteers who continue to make the annual tradition a success. Organizers encourage individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and community groups to sponsor a flag, make a donation, or volunteer to help with the event.
Visitors of all ages are invited to stroll through the rows of American flags, reflect on the stories behind each dedication, and experience a moving celebration of patriotism, sacrifice, and community service.
