Goldsboro — A 42-year-old man died Thursday night following a shooting in the 100 block of Vanderbilt Circle, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 8:38 p.m. on May 7 after receiving a ShotSpotter alert indicating possible gunfire in the area. While officers were responding, additional information was received that an individual had been shot.
When officers arrived, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to UNC Health Wayne, where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as Edward Duncan Jr., 42, of Smithfield.
The department’s Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene and has assumed the investigation. Officials said the case remains active and ongoing.
