GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Goldsboro Police Department has identified the victim in a Wednesday night shooting on Lincoln Drive and now says the incident is being investigated as an accidental shooting.
Officers responded to the 1000 block of Lincoln Drive at approximately 8:01 p.m. on April 8, 2026, after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from a gunshot wound.
Wayne County EMS transported the victim to UNC Health Wayne for emergency medical treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Authorities identified the victim as:
- Jassiah Armstrong, 18
- Goldsboro, North Carolina
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigations Division is currently handling the case and has classified the incident as an accidental shooting. Officials say no further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident will be released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
