April 3, 2026, 73, Goldsboro – Wiley Chris Phipps, 73, went home to be in the presence of Jesus Christ on April 3, 2026. Wiley was born in Goldsboro, NC on November 26, 1952 to Elizabeth Killette Phipps and James Edward Phipps.
Wiley attended Goldsboro High School and then graduated Barton College after serving his country as a MP in the United States Army. He was a computer programmer with IBM and general manager for Charlie Snipes Trucking.
Wiley is survived by his loving wife, Mary M. Phipps and children, Halye Rarick and husband, Michael, Kristin M. Pace, Bryan H. Weeks and wife, Kristen, Walter Barry Phipps and Cameron Weeks and wife, Gabby. He is leaving behind many beloved grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as his two sisters Diane Harrison and Anna Gardner.
Wiley is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Larry Phipps and his brother-in-law’s, Tom Harrison and Thedie Gardner.
Wiley will be remembered for his love of the Bible and Jesus, his family and his country. He had a quiet nature while always researching and deep thinking every moment. Wiley’s love of his country, patriotism and love of Christ would always be the topic of conversation. His love of God, family, and country would inspire so many people. We will carry his memory in our hearts and may he rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus. Until we meet again Wiley we will always love and cherish you.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A graveside service to honor Wiley’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
