April 5, 2026, 89, Goldsboro – Joseph Washington Rollins, 89, went home to be with his Lord early Easter Sunday morning, surrounded by the love of his family at his home. A day that celebrates resurrection and eternal hope now holds even deeper meaning, as Joe entered into the presence of his Savior.
Joe was born in Wayne County on June 10, 1936, to the late Lloyd and Maude Rollins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Brenda Mooring Rollins, and his wife of two years, Glenda Rollins; his brothers, Robert Rollins, Albert Rollins, Lloyd Rollins, Thurston Rollins, and Willie Rollins; and his sisters, Edna Wells, Lillie Parrucci, and Rachel Moore.
A proud patriot, Joe served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He dedicated much of his life to his work, first as an employee and later as the owner and operator of Ernest Glass Company in Goldsboro, where he faithfully served his community for 40 years before retiring in 1997.
Joe was a devoted and faithful member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church. His servant’s heart was evident in the many roles he held over the years. He also served on the FWB Church Finance Association board for 19 years and was conferred the title director emeritus. His faith guided his life, and he lived as a quiet example of dedication, humility, and steadfast love.
In his spare time, Joe found great joy in the simple blessings of life. He loved tending to his yard and garden, finding peace in watching things grow. For many years, he also raised Collie dogs, a hobby that brought him much happiness. He treasured the fellowship of friends, especially during times spent bowling together.
Above all, Joe was a hardworking man who took great pride in caring for his family. His love was shown not only in words, but in a lifetime of provision, sacrifice, and unwavering support. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he loved so dearly.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Joe’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Todd Sutton officiating. Interment will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
