GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Rocky Mount man has been arrested following a March shooting in Goldsboro that left an occupied home damaged by gunfire and placed three people at risk, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
Officers responded on March 8, 2026, at approximately 10:31 a.m. to 321 E. Spruce Street after receiving a ShotSpotter alert indicating about 14 rounds had been fired. When officers arrived, they discovered the residence had sustained damage consistent with gunfire. Authorities said three individuals were inside the home at the time, placing them in danger of serious injury or death.
The department’s Investigative Services Bureau launched an investigation and later identified Sylvester Leon Davis, 37, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, as a suspect.
On April 6, Davis was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service, working in conjunction with the Goldsboro Police Department Investigations Unit and Vice Unit. Authorities also served Davis with several outstanding warrants and orders for arrest.

- Possession of Firearm by Felon (Felony)
- Felony Probation Violation (Felony)
- Discharge Firearm in City Limits (Misdemeanor)
- Crime of Domestic Violence (Misdemeanor)
- Assault on a Female (Misdemeanor)
- False Imprisonment (Misdemeanor)
- Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle (Misdemeanor)
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released additional details regarding a motive for the shooting.
