April 3, 2026, Mount Olive – In loving memory of Jerry Clifton Coker, a skilled carpenter who lived and breathed his work. Jerry was known for his craftsmanship bringing both skill and humor to every job he undertook. With a jovial spirit, he loved to banter and joke, filling the lives of those around him with laughter and especially a nickname.
An avid saltwater fisherman, Jerry found joy whether he was driving the boat while trolling or feeling the sand beneath his feet while surf fishing. His passion for the ocean was matched only by his dedication to his work. As a caring daddy, he prioritized his daughter, Jeri Lynn and demonstrated that with his unwavering love and support.
Jerry is survived by his beloved daughter, Jeri Lynn Coker, her wife Christy and his granddaughter, Jetty “Jetty Blue”. He also leaves behind his sister, Shirley Overton, along with nieces and nephews who were like brothers and sisters to him, and many special friends who became family throughout his life.
He was the son of the late James Clifton and Hazel Holmes, and is also preceded in death by his sisters Eunice Guy, Kay Swinson, Lorraine Creech, and brothers James “Buddy”, Judson, Willie, and Kenneth.
In honor of Jerry Coker, his family invites all who knew him to celebrate his life by spending time fishing at the beach, a pastime he loved dearly. His legacy of an unwavering work ethic, good banter, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
