April 1, 2026, 82, Goldsboro – George Luther “Bill” Lee, 82, passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Johnston County on May 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Walter Lee and Ethel Daniels Lee.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sandy Marie Pittman Lee; siblings, Edna Earl Hill, Bud Lee, Judy Fields, Jimmy Lee, and Janice Taylor; and best friends, C. Ray Smith, and Bruce Moody.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Cindy Pipkin and husband Cecil, Michelle Lancaster, Lori Smith, Billie Jo Lee and wife, Amy; grandchildren Joshua Pipkin and wife, Danielle, Samantha Baker and husband, Greg, Kaitlyn Foss and husband, Cameron, Taylor Thompson and husband, Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Ansley, Waylon, Brooke, Jake, Avery, Owen, Carlee, Hudson, Eli, Scarlett, Willow, Weston, Bentlee, and Evy; and siblings, Jane Patton, Linda Gurley, Jerry Lee, Rebecca Gray, Peggy Denning, Larry Lee, Betty Carol Lee, and Mike Lee. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Bill was a man whose life was rooted in hard work, generosity, and deep love for his family. A dedicated farmer, he found great joy in tending the land, nurturing it with care, and watching the fruits of his labor grow. His garden was a true reflection of his giving spirit, as he often shared his fresh vegetables with neighbors and friends.
In addition to his work on the farm, Bill was a valued and respected employee at Jennings Transmissions, where his strong work ethic and dependable nature made a lasting impact on those he worked alongside.
Bill was well known for his love of cooking, especially when it came to preparing pigs for pig pickin’s and making his homemade sausage. He loved sharing meals with others, bring people together and creating lasting memories. He cherished the simple pleasures in life, including time spent fishing with his beloved wife, Sandy, moments that brought them both peace and happiness.
Above all, Bill’s greatest joy was his family. He loved them deeply, taking special pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless light into his life. His legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on through them.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to 3HC Hospice for their compassion and support, and to all of the nurses who provided such excellent care during Bill’s time of need.
A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Daw presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday evening. Interment services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
