WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — A Wilson woman has been arrested following a fraud investigation conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office involving a victim in the Princeton area.
According to authorities, detectives began investigating a reported fraud case on Jan. 5, 2026, after a victim in the Princeton area of Wayne County reported suspicious activity involving financial transactions.
During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Karie Lyndsey Ashenden, 20, of Wilson, as the suspect.
Ashenden was arrested on March 23, 2026, and charged with:
- Financial Transaction Card Theft (Felony)
- Financial Transaction Card Fraud (Felony)
Following her arrest, Ashenden was issued a $3,000 secured bond and transported to the Wayne County Detention Center, where she was held pending further proceedings.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the fraud investigation.
