March 24, 2026, 84, Princeton – James Phillip Edwards, 84, of Princeton, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He was born on December 2, 1941 to the late Albert Lester Edwards and Ethel Kornegay Edwards. In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Edwards; brother, Raymond Edwards; and brother-in-law, Billy Hardee.
Phillip loved riding motorcycles, going fishing and boating. He also enjoyed going to the mountains when the leaves were changing. Phillip was a workaholic. He worked over 60 years in the tire business. He bought the current shop in 1969 and it was his pride and joy. Most of all he loved his wife and sons.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Betty (Faye) Worley Edwards; son, Willard Kent Edwards and his fiancée, Joanie Langston; sister, Nancy Hardee; sister-in-law, Shirley Edwards; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, March 27, 2026 in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with Reverend Shawn Willis officiating. The committal will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Progressive Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.
Although flowers are welcome and appreciated, the family suggest memorial gifts be made to Progressive Presbyterian Church, 3790 Progressive Church Road, Princeton, NC 27569.
