March 19, 2026, 86, Stantonsburg – Edna Earl Owens Baker, 86, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Born in Wayne County on November 24, 1939, she was daughter to the late “Dock” Owens and Alvera Darden Owens.
Edna was a devoted and loving family woman who found her greatest joy in those she held dear. She took immense pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing the time she spent with them. During her high school years, Edna was an accomplished basketball player, reflecting both her discipline and determination.
She possessed a genuine love for people and a natural gift for caregiving. Edna faithfully dedicated 30 years of service to Dorothea Dix and Cherry Hospital. Following her retirement, she continued her life’s work by providing compassionate care to others as a private sitter for many years. Her legacy is one of kindness, service, and unwavering devotion to others.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline McLamb; her grandsons, Dillon McLamb and wife, Samantha, and Connor McLamb and wife, Cheyanne; and her great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Dawsyn and Sutton McLamb; and her brother, Johnny Owens.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, James Baker; her son, Derek Baker; her sister, Geraldine Owens; her brother, Charles Owens; and her son-in-law, Randy McLamb.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. A graveside service to honor Edna’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Eureka Cemetery.
