GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 29-year-old man was killed late Friday night following a single-vehicle crash in downtown Goldsboro, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
Officers responded around 10:55 p.m. on March 20, 2026, to the intersection of East Ash Street and North Center Street, where a vehicle had struck a tree within the roundabout.
First responders from the Goldsboro Fire Department and Wayne County EMS arrived on scene and pronounced the driver deceased.
Authorities identified the driver as Jyamier Maysan Simmons, 29, of Sims. Officials confirmed no other vehicles or passengers were involved in the crash.
Preliminary findings indicate speed was a contributing factor. It remains unclear whether alcohol played a role, and the investigation is ongoing.
