WAYNE COUNTY, NC — Wayne County Animal Services is offering residents a convenient and affordable way to protect their pets this spring, announcing four low-cost rabies vaccination clinics scheduled for late March and early April.
The drive-up clinics will provide rabies vaccinations for just $5 per pet, helping owners comply with North Carolina General Statute §130A-185, which requires all dogs, cats, and ferrets to be vaccinated by four months of age and to maintain current vaccinations.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for residents to take care of their pets,” said Graham Price. “These clinics are quick, affordable, and help keep both our pets and our community safe.”
Residents can attend any of the following clinics:
-
Saturday, March 28
• Grantham Elementary School, 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
• Eastern Wayne High School, 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. -
Saturday, April 4
• Spring Creek High School, 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
• Northwest Elementary School, 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Vaccinations will be available for dogs and cats only, and payment must be made in cash. Pet owners are required to bring a valid driver’s license or photo ID.
Officials note that pets receiving a three-year vaccine must have proof of prior vaccination in the form of a certificate; rabies tags alone will not qualify. Residents are also encouraged to check with groomers, boarding facilities, and veterinary providers to confirm they accept a written rabies certificate.
For safety, all animals must be on a leash or secured in a carrier while attending the clinics.
For more information, residents can visit the county website or contact Animal Services directly at (919) 731-1439.
Community leaders encourage residents to take advantage of these clinics and help ensure pets across Wayne County remain healthy and protected.
