March 17, 2026, 72, Goldsboro – Bart Wilson Broadwell, 72, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at his home.
Bart was born in Johnston County on December 10, 1954, and was raised in Selma. He was the son of the late Richard O. “Dicky” Broadwell and Ava Rose Davis Broadwell.
He retired following a long and dedicated career in telecommunications. A faithful member of Falling Creek Community Church, Bart devoted many years to serving the church by running the sound system. He had a deep love for Southern Gospel music and shared his talent as a tenor, singing with several groups throughout the years.
Bart was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his children. He served as a Scoutmaster and coached his son’s ball team, always making his family his top priority. In his free time, Bart found joy in the outdoors, whether working in his yard or crafting in his workshop. Through his woodworking, he created many pieces that he proudly shared and sold through his “Uncle Bart’s Chop Shop.”
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. in Neuse Friends Cemetery with Pastor Greg Moser officiating.
Bart is survived by his loving wife of nearly 34 years, Kathy C. Broadwell; his son, Bart Wilson Broadwell, Jr. (Nicole Lakin); his daughter, Katlyn Renee Broadwell (Kyle Riddle); and his cherished grandchildren, Shaun Tutor and Margo Lavee Riddle. He is also survived by his brothers, Dr. Richard O. Broadwell, II (Mary), Jim Broadwell (Cynthia), and Joey Broadwell (Jamie); and his sister, Amy Taylor (Neal).
In addition to his parents, Bart was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lavee and Randall Coone, as well as his beloved K-9 companion, Koda.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bart’s memory to Go Mix Radio – WAGO, P.O. Box 1895, Goldsboro, NC 27533-1895. This ministry brought Bart great joy and comfort, especially in the last year, and was a meaningful source of encouragement in his life.
