February 9, 2026, 78, Brevard – Carol King Marines of Brevard, North Carolina, a devoted educator, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the age of 78, at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, North Carolina. Born on April 20, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, Carol dedicated her life to the compassionate education and support of special needs children, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
A former resident of Goldsboro, North Carolina, she was a lifelong advocate for children, Carol’s passion for teaching went beyond the classroom. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering commitment helped countless students reach their full potential, inspiring those around her to strive for inclusivity and understanding. Those who were privileged to be her students or colleagues will remember her as an inspiring force who believed deeply in the power of kindness and education.
Carol was a member of Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church in Brevard, where she found both spiritual fulfillment and a sense of community. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing strength and comfort in moments of joy and adversity alike.
Preceded in death by her loving parents, Thomas and Billy King, Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Buddy Marines; her daughter, Samantha “Sam” Marines; her son, Robert “Rob” Marines; and her adored grandson, Ryland Matulich. She leaves behind many friends and former students, each of whom carries a piece of her legacy forward.
Though she is no longer with us, Carol’s spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the love she shared. Her family finds solace in knowing that her influence will continue through the many seeds she planted in her lifetime.
A celebration of Carol’s remarkable life and enduring impact was held on Saturday, March 07, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church in Brevard.
