February 26, 2026, 87, Wilmington – Tommie Ann Lancaster Rothrock, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Brookdale in Wilmington, surrounded by the love of her family.
Ann was born in Wayne County on November 5, 1938, to the late Tommy Bryant Lancaster and Mildred Virginia Hooks Lancaster. She preceded her beloved husband, Tommy Rothrock in death.
A proud native of Wayne County, Ann’s roots ran deep in the community she cherished and where she will return for burial. She devoted her life to education, serving as a dedicated teacher with New Hanover County Schools in Wilmington until her retirement in 1990. Ann had a true gift for teaching and a heart for children. She found great joy in making a difference in the lives of her students each day, leaving a lasting impact on generations of young people.
Ann was a faithful member of Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, where her quiet faith and gentle spirit were evident to all who knew her.
At Ann’s request, a graveside service will be held at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, just before sunset in Pikeville Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by several nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much and who will cherish her memory always.
