MOUNT OLIVE, NC — The Town of Mount Olive celebrated culture, heritage, and community pride Saturday during its annual Black History Parade.
The parade stepped off promptly at 1 p.m. on February 28, beginning at the shopping center and traveling south along Breazeale Avenue. Spectators lined the route, waving and cheering as participants made their way through town in a vibrant display of unity and celebration.
The largest crowd gathered near the Piggly Wiggly area, where families and friends packed sidewalks and parking lots for a prime view of the procession. Community members of all ages turned out to support the event, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
The parade, which lasted approximately an hour and a half, featured a variety of participants representing local organizations, businesses, churches, and community groups. Music, decorated vehicles, and spirited marchers added to the energy of the afternoon.
The annual event serves as a meaningful way for the community to honor Black history, recognize local contributions, and bring residents together in celebration each year.
