February 22, 2026, 70, Goldsboro – Henry Archie Mooring, 70, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Archie was born in Wayne County on January 8, 1956, to the late Henry Lee Mooring and Ivor Lancaster Mooring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Mooring.
Archie retired after 43 years of dedicated service at Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he faithfully served as a mechanical supervisor. He was a devoted member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. His faith was evident in the way he lived and the way he loved others.
Archie had a servant’s heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. Of all the things he enjoyed, nothing brought him more joy than attending and supporting all of Ava’s activities.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Free Chapel P.F.W.B. Church, followed by a service to celebrate Archie’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Ronnie Weaver and Rev. Dane Williford officiating. Due to limited parking the interment will be private for the family on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lancaster Family Cemetery.
Archie is survived by his loving wife, Ann Reeves Mooring; his sons, Kenneth Ray Mooring and wife, Jami, and Willie “Trey” Summerlin III; a special daughter he lovingly raised since she was one year old, Ava Bleu Summerlin; his grandchildren, Alivia M. Summerlin, Kaylee Mooring, Remington Mooring, and Abigail Mooring; his brother, Pat Mooring and fiancée, Diane; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Stephanie Jones; and Ava’s friends and church children that called him Pa.
