February 21, 2026, 83, Goldsboro – Charles Michael “Chuck” Davis, age 83, passed away Saturday at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Lenior County, NC, he was the son of the late Edwin and Patricia Davis. His parents were highly regarded in the Kinston, Lenior County area. His father had many patents and his mother was a talented painter. Chuck graduated from East Carolina University in 1965 and had worked for Apollo Campers in California before returning to North Carolina. Prior to his retirement, he was a supervisor with Modern Machine in Goldsboro, NC. A member of Emmaus Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon. He was known to be a gifted handyman, collected antiques and enjoyed fishing.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Jimmie Dawn Moody Davis; daughters, Pam Kohnen (JR) and Jennifer Paynter; nephew, Billy Davis; grandchildren, Brice Kohnen, Reese Paynter (China), Mitchell Kohnen (Jessica), Haley Jensen (Nathan), Samuel Paynter (Jordan), Luke Paynter, and Benjamin Paynter; great grandson, Zachary Paynter
Along with his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, Wynsie Davis and son-in-law, David Paynter.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Emmaus Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
