February 22, 2026, 90, Goldsboro – Roberta Hales Weeks, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 22, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends.
Roberta was born in Wayne County on March 23, 1935, to the late John C. Hales and Laura Neal Hales. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and devoted husband, Wayland Weeks.
Roberta was a woman of deep faith, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family, church and community. She found great joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved to cook and provide delicious meals for her family and loved ones. Sewing was one of her many talents, and she could alter or repair anything. More than she loved to sew, she loved the many friendships that she made through her sewing clients.
Roberta also enjoyed attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic supporter and cheered with her whole heart. Whether in the stands or gathered with loved ones, she cherished those shared moments of excitement and connection.
Most importantly, Roberta was devoted to serving her church. A lifetime, faithful member of Oakland Community Church, she dedicated many years serving as a deacon, offering guidance, compassion, and steadfast leadership. Her service reflected her deep commitment to her faith and her desire to uplift others and serve her Lord and Savior.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Roberta’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Oakland Community Church with Rev. Jonathan Hicks and Rev. Amy Stroud officiating. Interment will follow in the Neal Family Cemetery.
