RALEIGH, NC — A Kinston man is celebrating a life-changing win after a $5 scratch-off ticket delivered a $250,000 top prize.
David Sutton of Kinston tried his luck on a 20X The Cash ticket and walked away with the game’s top prize. He purchased the winning ticket at Prime Food Mart on Rouse Road in Kinston.
Sutton traveled to lottery headquarters on Thursday to claim his prize. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $180,026.
The 20X The Cash game debuted in January with 15 top prizes of $250,000 available. According to lottery officials, 13 of those top prizes remain unclaimed.
