GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The City of Goldsboro is entering the final stages of its new comprehensive plan for growth and development, known as Elevate Goldsboro, and city planners are calling on residents to help shape the final recommendations.
The comprehensive plan, expected to be completed this summer, will outline a long-term vision for the city, establish a future land use strategy, and create an actionable roadmap to guide development decisions in the years ahead.
As the planning process moves toward completion, the City is hosting its final round of public input sessions on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the W.A. Foster Recreation Center, located at 1012 S. John St. Two identical drop-in workshops will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Residents may attend either session and arrive at any time during the scheduled hours.
“We have been pleased with the community’s response to this important plan,” said Mark Helmer, Planning Services Manager for the City of Goldsboro. “As we get closer to finishing the plan, we hope even more residents will join us at a workshop or visit the project website to let their voice be heard.”
The Elevate Goldsboro Comprehensive Plan is designed to guide future development decisions and align with projected regional growth. It will establish a future land use map and policy framework reflecting community priorities. However, city officials emphasize that the plan itself will not change the current zoning ordinance or zoning map.
Information about the project’s first phase of public engagement, along with an overview of the planning process, is available at www.ElevateGoldsboro.com. A second public survey is also planned for the spring to gather additional feedback on draft recommendations.
Once adopted, the comprehensive plan will serve as a guiding document for decisions related to growth, development and other city initiatives.
