Goldsboro, N.C. — Following recent school closures due to inclement weather, Wayne County Public Schools has finalized a revised student make-up schedule to recover lost instructional time. The plan was developed by district administrators after reviewing local options and was approved this week by the Wayne County Board of Education.
Under the traditional academic calendar, student make-up days have been scheduled for February 16 and March 16, dates that were originally designated as Workdays. In addition, to help make up instructional hours, the district has canceled early dismissal days previously set for February 25, March 25, April 22, and May 13. On those dates, all schools will now dismiss at their regular times.
For schools operating on non-traditional academic calendars, including Wayne Early/Middle College High School (WEMCHS) and the Wayne School of Engineering (WSE), student make-up days are scheduled for February 16, March 5, and March 6. These dates were also originally planned as Workdays.
Revised academic calendars for all schools are available for viewing, downloading, and printing on the district’s website at www.waynecountyschools.org.
