GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Goldsboro Police Department has confirmed that a shooting reported earlier this week is now being investigated as a homicide following the death of the victim.
Police originally responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 2:46 p.m. on February 2, 2026, in the 400 block of East New Hope Road. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to UNC Health Wayne, where he was later airlifted to ECU Health in Greenville. At the time, the victim was listed in critical condition.
In an update released Tuesday, authorities said the victim succumbed to his injuries on February 3 while receiving treatment at ECU Health.
The victim has been identified as Demartquise Ti’Quez Swinson, a 28-year-old man from La Grange, North Carolina.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit continue to actively investigate the case.
