February 1, 2026, 83, Goldsboro – Billy Harrell Sauls, 83, passed away at Wayne UNC Health Care on February 1, 2026. Born in Wayne County on February 5, 1942, he was the son of the late Sidney Russell Sauls and Clara Lee Sauls.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his daughters, Sharon Barber and Karen Sauls Maynard; and grandson, Chris Sauls.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Moore Sauls; daughter, Rhonda Sauls; grandchildren, Christy Barber (Dave Hanner), Ashley Barber (Jay Willard), Renee Boston (Iain), and Mark Talton; great-grandchildren, Ava Hanner, Mark Hanner, Link Boston, and Leo Boston; and brother, Don Sauls.
Billy was a man known for his hard work, community spirit, and love of life’s simple joys. For many years, he owned and operated Billy Sauls Exxon. Through dedication and integrity, Billy built a business that served generations of customers and became a trusted part of the community.
Outside of work, Billy had a lifelong passion for racing cars. He didn’t just race them—he built them himself, taking pride in both the craftsmanship and the thrill of competition. In his younger years, he also enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors and appreciating the quiet traditions that came with it.
Billy treasured time spent with friends and family, especially at the lake. He loved playing horseshoes with friends and sharing laughter and stories along the way. Weekends often found his family at White Lake, where they kept a boat and camper, creating memories filled with sunshine, water, and togetherness.
Dedicated not only to his family and work but also to his town, Billy served as a member of the Morrisville City Council in Morrisville, North Carolina. His service reflected his desire to give back and help guide the community he cared so deeply about.
Billy will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his adventurous spirit, and the genuine connections he made with those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the memories he created, and the community he helped shape.
A service to celebrate Billy’s life will be held on his birthday, February 5, 2026 at 11 am at Faro Chapel Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Faro Chapel Church, 3616 Big Daddy’s Rd, Fremont, NC 27830 in memory of Billy.
