January 24, 2026, 68, Goldsboro – Our beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend relocated to Heaven this past Saturday. She fought with great tenacity, but God had other plans for her.
Georgia was born on February 22, 1957 in Manassas, Virginia, to William “Bill” and Mary Cunningham Grant. She graduated from Greene Central High School in Snow Hill, NC and then furthered her education at Wayne Community College, Goldsboro, NC.
She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Fulghum. From this union, their daughter Heather Nichole was born. Although they did not remain married, they remained great friends throughout their lives.
She then began a life with Donnie Fulghum and they remained very much in love until his death in 2022.
She worked for the City of Goldsboro for 23 years. She also worked at various other jobs afterwards. She has many friends from that time in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mary; her brother, William “Buddy” Grant and his wife, Patricia; her sisters, Josephine Laughinghouse and Betsy Lewis; her infant son, James Paul III and her longtime partner and love, Donnie. We are certain she had a glorious reunion upon her arrival.
Left behind to miss her are her daughter, Heather (Allan) Weeks; her grandchildren, Emersen, Anastyn and Mason; her sister, Kathy (Eddie) Gray; brother-in-law, Billy Ray Fulghum; sisters-in-law, Joyce Perkinson and Ella Garner; her nephews, Cole (Pam) Bradshaw, Trae (Andrea) Durrence, Phillip Durrence; her nieces, Jennifer Grant, Katie (Justin) Schneider and Kimberly Gray Fien and her son, Oliver Fien; and many other loved ones we are far too blessed to have room to list.
She has many fond memories, but her most recent trip to Emerald Isle, Summer of 2024, with her family was a wonderful time and she spoke of it often. Being able to have her toes in the sand brought her so much joy. It will be a time we will always remember. We will surely miss her blue eyes, half smiles and always seeing her enjoying her Coke.
There are no words to express our appreciation, but the family would like to formally thank Summer Boyette and Leigh Ann Sutton from Gentiva Hospice for their friendship.
You both are angels and Georgia and her family think so highly of you.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Goldsboro. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at her residence.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
