Things are slowly warming up outside — and at the Wayne County Animal Shelter, hearts are warming too, thanks to this week’s WGBR Pet of the Week powered by Jackson & Sons.
Meet Sawyer, a well-behaved bully-mix who is quickly becoming a favorite among staff and volunteers. Estimated to be between one and two years old, Sawyer is a young adult with a striking fawn-colored coat accented by soft gray tones and a distinctive white bib down his chest.
Shelter staff say Sawyer came to them about a month ago after being injured in an accident. After receiving excellent care, he has fully recovered and is now healthy, happy, and ready for a forever home.
“Even though we hate to see him leave the shelter, we’d love it at the same time,” the staff shared. “He’s definitely a favorite, and we want to see him loved and cared for the rest of his life.”
Sawyer’s calm demeanor and friendly personality make him a wonderful companion for the right family. While Sawyer is in the adoption spotlight, shelter officials remind the community that many other dogs and cats are also waiting for loving homes.
Supporters are also encouraged to donate newspapers to the shelter, which are always appreciated.
