January 20, 2026, 69, Mount Olive – Joan Carol Price Lassiter, 69, a Mount Olive resident, passed away Tuesday morning, January 20, 2026, while receiving care at Genesis of Mount Olive.
Joanie, as she was often called, was a native of the Bethel Church area near Mount Olive. She had spent her life’s work caring for others, as an in-home care assistant, both in the private sector and also with local home health agencies.
Joanie leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Jennifer Price of the Rones Chapel area, Mount Olive; grandchildren, Melinda B. Judy and husband, Christopher, of Goldsboro, and Noah Price of Mount Olive; a great-grandson, Keaton Judy of Goldsboro, with another great-grandchild soon to arrive; a sister and brother-in-law, Marie P. and Wayne Wiggins of Mount Olive; a sister-in-law, Sharyn Price of Henderson; and many nieces and nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gurney F. and Maggie Arnette Price; sisters, Molly Price, Brenda P. Cotton, and Roseden P. Miller; and brothers, Preston “Bud” Price, Robert Price, and Franklin Price.
Friends and family will gather on Thursday, January 22, at the Pate Cemetery to remember Joanie at a 3:00 p.m. graveside service. The family will greet friends at the cemetery, and at other times, family and friends will be received at the home of Marie and Wayne Wiggins, 1873 Thunder Swamp Road, Mount Olive.
