WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — The Wayne County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet Tuesday, January 20, 2026, with a full agenda that includes special presentations, board appointments, a public hearing, and several consent items related to county operations and economic development.
Several special presentations are scheduled, including consideration of Resolution #2026-1 honoring the 2025 Charles B. Aycock High School boys’ soccer team. The board will also hear a presentation from the Saving Union Station Team, delivered by Julie Metz, as well as a presentation from Danna Layne on the county’s 2024–2025 audit.
Under appointment committee business, commissioners will consider multiple appointments to the Wayne County Planning Board. Proposed appointees include David Aycock, Yvonnia Moore, Mike Acree, and Delvisha Faison, filling vacancies created by recent departures.
A public hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. to receive comments on the proposed sale of 31.48 acres in the ParkEast Industrial Park, identified as Lot 7A. The property is being considered for sale as part of Project Light at a price of $40,000 per acre. The board may take action following the hearing.
Unfinished business includes a discussion of EMS Station #12, with a presentation by Insight Consulting Group.
The consent agenda features several items, including budget amendments and the establishment of a public hearing on February 3, 2026, regarding a proposed installment financing agreement to fund improvements at Rosewood Middle School and Rosewood Elementary School. Commissioners will also consider Resolution 2026-2 in support of a North Carolina Commerce Industrial Development Fund–Utility Account application to assist with water infrastructure for Team Foods USA, Inc., as well as approval of a memorandum of understanding with the North Carolina Railroad Company related to the relocation of a water utility line in ParkEast Industrial Park.
The meeting will conclude with the county manager’s report and committee reports from members of the Board of Commissioners.
