Goldsboro, N.C. — The Goldsboro City Council reviewed a proposal for a new 24/7 convenience store with a drive-thru at 1515 East Ash Street, located at the corner of East Ash and North Jefferson Streets, during their January 5th meeting. The site is currently home to the former One Hour Cleaners.
The proposed store would operate around the clock with two employees and feature aisles, shelves, coolers, refrigerators, a drive-thru, storage areas, and employee restrooms. No fuel sales are planned, and the applicant confirmed no alcohol, THC, or vape products would be sold. The product mix is expected to include snacks, drinks, and groceries.
City staff noted that while parking and access meet development regulations, the proposed use is not consistent with the city’s comprehensive land use plan, which designates the corridor for office and institutional purposes. Council members raised questions about product offerings, hours of operation, proximity to other convenience stores, and nearby churches and residential areas.
The applicant indicated a connection to King’s Convenience Store across the street, owned by family members, which operates 8 a.m. to 1 a.m., unlike the proposed 24-hour schedule for the new store.
After discussion and public comments, the council voted to table the decision on the special use permit until the meeting on February 2, 2026, to allow further review and consideration.
