January 5, 2026, 92, Faison – Henry Aldrich “Buster” Precythe passed away late Monday afternoon, January 5, 2026, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Buster, 92, had spent his entire life in Faison with the exception of two years during which he served in the United States Army. A true Faison icon, he will be truly missed.
He had been employed with the NC State Employment Security Commission, retiring with 34 years of loyal service. During his working tenure, he filled the role of rural manpower specialist, overseeing 12 counties in eastern North Carolina.
Mr. Precythe was one who enjoyed life to its fullest. Being the jokester that he was, he brought humor to everything that he did or was involved with. Towards the waning of his life, he made the comment that he had enjoyed a good life and looking back, he would not change a thing. He was satisfied with himself and the way he lived.
His surviving family includes his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda L. Precythe, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, H. C. Precythe and Anne Precythe, of Sneads Ferry; two granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.
A brief service of remembrance will be Thursday, January 15, at 5:00 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. Presiding will be the Rev. Paul Rose and “Coach” Kenneth Avent, Sr. The family will receive friends during the hour both before and after the service, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to Men’s Brotherhood, Faison Baptist Church, PO Box 280, Faison NC 28341.
