Goldsboro, N.C. — A 17-year-old Goldsboro male has been charged in connection with a December shooting at a north Goldsboro convenience store that left a 19-year-old Dudley man seriously injured.
On Dec. 26, 2025, at approximately 11:07 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the Sheetz located at 1003 N. Spence Ave. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to UNC Health Wayne before he was airlifted to ECU Health in Greenville, where he remains listed in serious condition.
The victim was identified as Jeffery Wayne Moses Jr., 19, of Dudley.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.
On Jan. 6, 2026, investigators identified a suspect and secured charges against a 17-year-old male. The juvenile was arrested by members of the Goldsboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division with assistance from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at Wayne Academy, located at 1711 E. New Hope Road.
The juvenile was served with warrants and transported to the Pitt Regional Juvenile Center in Greenville.
The suspect faces the following charges:

Attempted first-degree murder

Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill

Carrying a concealed weapon

Possession of a handgun by a minor

Discharging a firearm within city limits
The investigation remains ongoing, and police say additional leads are still being pursued.
