December 28, 2025, 75, Goldsboro – Earleen Wooten McClarin, 75, passed away at Wayne UNC Health Care on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Born in Wayne County on February 25, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Jacobs, Sr., and Grace Lee Newsome.
In addition to her parents, Earleen is preceded in death by her siblings, James Newsome, Mary Harvey, Clarence Jacobs, Jr., Cynthia Washington, and Linwood Earl Jacobs
Earleen is survived by her loving husband, Alton Ray McClarin; sons, Mac Carlton McClarin (Ruby) and Gregory Keith McClarin (Danielle); grandchildren, Lavisha Pelaez, Beonee McClarin Allen, Sydni McClarin, Amira McClarin, and Jared Dubious; and siblings, Constance Lesesene, Sharon Flanagan, Shirley Jones, Benjamin Newsome, Peggy Looper, and Gwendolyn Coghill. Earleen is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that she loved.
Earleen was a woman of quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those she loved and served. She spent her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she was known for treating every patient with genuine care, dignity, and respect. For Earleen, caregiving was more than a profession—it was a calling, and she fulfilled it with kindness and grace.
Beyond her work, Earleen enjoyed savoring life’s finer moments. She loved dining at nice restaurants, appreciating good food and the joy of shared meals, and she found great happiness in traveling, always eager to see new places and experience the world beyond her doorstep.
Earleen was a devoted and faithful military spouse, standing proudly and loyally beside her husband, Ray. Her support, love, and steadiness were a constant source of strength throughout their life together.
Her faith was an important part of who she was. Earleen was a dedicated member of New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church, where her commitment to God and her church family reflected the values she lived by every day.
Earleen will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her servant’s heart, and the love she shared so freely with others. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the countless acts of kindness that defined her life.
A service to celebrate Earleen’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Entombment will take place following the service at Wayne Memorial Park.
