December 29, 2025, 92, Goldsboro – Alice Ball Burnette, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 29, 2025, at UNC Wayne Healthcare in Goldsboro. Her life was a testament of faith, love, and service, and the words of Scripture reflect her journey well: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Alice was born in Franklin County on August 24, 1933, to the late George Parker Ball and Mary Elizabeth Evans Ball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Johnnie W. Burnette; her son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie W. Burnette, Jr. and Marilyn Parrish Burnette; her brother, Foster Ball; and her sisters, Martha Smith, Lucy Murray, Nora Tusinski-Hopewell, and Donia Lackey.
A devoted member of Rosewood First Baptist Church, Alice faithfully served her Lord throughout her life. She was actively involved in the ministries of the church and cherished worshiping alongside her family, finding great joy and strength in her faith and church family.
Alice leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, William “Bill” Parker Burnette; her daughter, Lori B. Barnes; her grandchildren, Stephen Burnette and wife Andrea, Timothy Burnette and wife Christa, Teresia Burnette Castenda and husband Kyle, Tiffany Barnes Denning and husband Trey, and Priscilla Barnes Broadway and husband Josh; a special family friend, Tim Barnes; and several beloved great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church, followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Vernon Braswell officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
