December 19, 2025, 83, Warsaw – Gene Rochelle, resident of the Warsaw area, passed away Friday night, December 19, 2025, at his home.
Named Joseph Eugene Rochelle at birth, he was mostly known as Gene. He was 83 years old.
Mr. Rochelle had been employed in sanitation services, with what was begun as Quinn Wholesale Company in Warsaw, which later became Scriver, and lastly as Fleming, and from which he retired. He was a loyal member of Bear Marsh Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Dewey Rochelle and Mina Parker Rochelle; his brother, Melbert Rochelle; and his sister, Carolyn Strange, and is survived by his wife, Janet Basden Rochelle, with whom he was 10 days shy of celebrating 52 years of marriage. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Catherine B. Outlaw, of Mount Olive; and his beloved church family at Bear Marsh.
It will be at Bear Marsh Church in the Beautancus community of Mount Olive, where funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, at 6:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Rose. Visitation will follow the service in the church’s King Fellowship Building. Committal rites will be Tuesday, December 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Devotional Gardens at Warsaw, with entombment following in the mausoleum.
