Wayne County Leaders Officially Welcome Pelsan Tekstil A.S. to Goldsboro

Goldsboro, N.C. — Wayne County and City of Goldsboro officials formally welcomed the owners and leadership team of Pelsan Tekstil A.S. last week as the company moves forward with plans to establish its first U.S. production facility in Goldsboro.

Representatives from the Wayne County Board of Commissioners, the City of Goldsboro Mayor and Council, the Wayne County Development Alliance (WCDA), and the NC Global TransPark Economic Development Region (EDR) gathered to greet the international manufacturer, which will acquire the 50,000-square-foot and 30,000-square-foot shell buildings located in ParkEast Industrial Park.

Pelsan Tekstil A.S. will invest $82.6 million and create 216 new jobs as part of its expansion into Wayne County. The company specializes in producing breathable polyethylene film used in medical, hygiene, and insulation products around the world, including its well-known Breatech line.

During their visit, Pelsan’s leadership team signed the real estate agreement finalizing their commitment to the ParkEast site. As a gesture of appreciation and partnership, they also presented Wayne County Board of Commissioners Chairman Joe Daugherty and Goldsboro Mayor Charles Gaylor with a handcrafted vase from Turkey.

Local and regional economic development leaders say the project underscores the strong momentum in eastern North Carolina’s manufacturing sector.

“We are honored to welcome Pelsan Tekstil A.S. to our region,” Wayne County leaders said in a joint statement. “Their investment reflects the teamwork, preparation, and growing economic strength of Wayne County and the NC Global TransPark Economic Development Region.”

The project is supported by a broad coalition of partners, including the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, NC Department of Commerce, NC General Assembly, North Carolina Community College System, Wayne County, WCDA, City of Goldsboro, Duke Energy, North Carolina’s Southeast, and Wayne Community College.

Pelsan’s arrival marks another milestone in positioning Wayne County as a prime location for innovative, global manufacturing operations.
