Kathryn Taylor Hales, 80, departed this life on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Greendale Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Snow Hill. Born July 3, 1945 in Wayne County, she was daughter to the late Arthur Taylor and Mildred Cox Taylor.
Mom was a dedicated and active member of Pleasant Grove Church, where she faithfully served on the Benevolence Committee until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She retired from Fremont Stars Elementary School after many years as the cafeteria manager. Her deep love for children made this position especially well-suited to her as she took great pride in caring for the students each day.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Tracy Honrine and husband, Scott; her grandchildren, Taylor Honrine (Dee Jay Mooring), Jacob Honrine and wife, Bridget and Noah Honrine; her brother, Johnny Taylor and wife, Larue; her sister, Evelyn Best; a special nephew, J.C. Tilghman; brother-in-law’s, Earl Hales and Roy Hales; and her sister-in-law’s, Linda Person, Shelia Price, Vickie Tilghman and Linda Hales.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Hales, her brothers, Pete Taylor and Bobby Taylor; her brother-in-law’s, Kermit Best, Carl Ray Hales and Kenneth Hales; and her sister-in-law’s, Viola King and Christine Goetze.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. A service to honor Kathryn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Barry Stallings and Pastor Kem Lancaster officiating. Interment will conclude at Evergreen Cemetery in Princeton.
