November 16, 2025, 18, Goldsboro —
Joshua Jerome Carter, Jr., 18, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Halifax County on December 15, 2006, Joshua was the beloved son of Joshua Jerome Carter and Ashley Davis Carter.
Joshua was employed at Handy Mart in Mount Olive, where his warm personality, upbeat spirit, and strong work ethic quickly made an impression on customers and coworkers alike. He genuinely enjoyed meeting new people, and his dedication had earned him consideration for a promotion—an opportunity he was excited and proud to be working toward.
A fun-loving and loveable young man, Joshua brought joy into every room he entered. His easy smile and kindhearted nature made him someone others gravitated toward. He had a special way of making people feel included, and time spent with him always came with laughter and light. One of his greatest passions was fishing; Joshua found peace along the water’s edge and loved the thrill of a tug on the line at his favorite fishing hole.
Creative and talented, Joshua was also pursuing his dream of becoming a tattoo artist. He took great pride in designing meaningful artwork, many of which became tattoos on his own arms—each one telling a story of his imagination and individuality.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Park, with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
In addition to his parents, Joshua is survived by his sister, BriAnna Nicole Morris; nephew, E’Marion Joyner; and his grandmother, Sue Carter, who played a significant role in helping raise him. He is also survived by a host of extended family members whom he loved dearly.
Joshua was preceded in death by his grandparents, Su Baker, Glenn Davis, Stanley Jerome Carter and Mert Jones.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
