Gina Maria Summerlin, age 62, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Alamance County, Gina was the daughter of the late Edgar Thomas Summerlin and Helen Marie Surles Summerlin. She was a former employee of Pizza Inn. The last years of her life were happy and content.

Gina is survived by her husband, Douglas E. Herring; a son, Douglas E. “D.J.” Herring, Jr., a daughter, Tabitha Cormier; a brother, Tim Summerlin; a sister, Teresa Summerlin; and three grandchildren, Bentley Carter Schaefer, Bailey Ann Herring and Aaron.
