Latonya Macklin, affectionately known as “Tonya Mack,” was born in Newark, New Jersey, to her devoted mother, Sandtent Hill. As her mother’s only biological child, Tonya was a blessing whose warmth, laughter, and love touched every heart she encountered. She was later blessed with a caring stepfather, Eugene Hill, who preceded her in death.
Tonya’s life was filled with love, light, and compassion. She was the proud mother of five children: Keajah Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Kayla Macklin, Shatoya Green, and Cameron Macklin. Additionally, she was a proud grandmother to seven beautiful grandchildren, each one a piece of her heart. Her special bond with her grandson Desmond, whom she lovingly referred to as “her baby,” was unmatched.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her mother, Sandtent Hill; her beloved grandfather, Calap D. Tonya was a woman who embraced life and made people smile wherever she went. She had a generous heart, always ready to help others, and cherished the time spent with family and friends. Her favorite saying, “Leave the past in the past,” reflected her forgiving nature and her belief in moving forward with love.
She loved deeply, laughed loudly, and lived boldly. When it came to her loved ones, Tonya was fiercely loyal, and her strength was unmatched. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, compassion, and her ability to make everyone around her feel seen and cared for.
Her legacy of love will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and friends, who will miss her dearly but will hold her memory close in their hearts forever.
