 Elsie Rae Boykin, 91, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025. Born on November 1, 1933 in Wilson County, she was daughter to the late Julian Spence and Mary Rose Spence.

Elsie treasured every moment spent with her family. Whether sharing stories, celebrating milestones and holidays, or simply enjoying quiet afternoons together, she found joy in being present for those she loved. Her laughter, encouragement, and unwavering support made every family gathering richer and more meaningful.

Elsie expressed her love through the meals she prepared, believing that food had a special way of bringing people together. Her kitchen was the heart of her home—always filled with the comforting aromas of her favorite recipes and the sound of laughter around the table. She took great pride in cooking for her family, creating traditions and memories that will be treasured for generations.

Elsie found her greatest joy in the presence of her grandchildren. She played a constant and guiding role in their lives, offering them unconditional love, wisdom, and encouragement. Whether through her home-cooked meals, gentle words, or nurturing spirit, she created a foundation of warmth and security that her grandchildren will forever cherish.

Elsie is survived by her daughters, Debbie Schultze and Terry Hogg; her son, Al Boykin Jr. and wife, Pam; her grandchildren, Heather Batts, Ashley Bailey, Erika Newsome and husband, Jason, Jason Schultze and wife, Laura, Tyler Schultze and wife, Lauren, and Richie Hogg and wife, Stephanie; and her great-grandchildren, Cole Denton, Piper Finn, Harper Schultze, Hadley Schultze, Hayzel Schultze, Jackson Honeycutt, Will Schultze and Griffin Schultze.

In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Boykin; her brother, Aubrey Spence; and her sisters, Evelyn Spence, Virginia Leonard, Judy Bridgers, Shirley Simmon, Betty Ellis and Inez Shipley.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. for a time of visitation at Kenly Funeral Service. A service to honor Elsie’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Richie Hogg officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Elsie’s honor to, Marsh Swamp OFWB Church Building Fund, 6664 Rock Ridge School Road, Sims, NC 27880 or Buckhorn Methodist Church, 8102 NC 42, Kenly, NC 27542.
