With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gonzalo Federico Abril, 81, on September 24, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hopice Center. He was born on April 13, 1944, in Ecuador to the late Alfonso Abril and Luz Armendáriz. Gonzalo left this world surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy rooted in family, hard work, and unwavering values.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Emma Abril; sister, Romeria Abril and brothers, Jose Abril, Pablo Abril, and Juan Abril.

From a young age, Gonzalo developed a deep fascination with cars, a passion that would shape the course of his life. He became a skilled mechanic, known not just for his craftsmanship but for the pride and care he poured into his work. To him, fixing a car was never just a job; it was a reflection of his dedication and persistence.

But above all, Gonzalo was a family man. He believed in teaching by example and instilled strong values and principles in his children and grandchildren—lessons in integrity, humility, and kindness that will continue to echo through generations. His love was steady, his presence reassuring, and his wisdom cherished by all who knew him.

Gonzalo is survived by his loving children: Hipatia Cisneros (Pablo), Silvia Abril, Jenny Abril (Julio), Gonzalo D. Abril (Yamily), and Carlos E. Abril; his beloved grandchildren: Bridget, Sheena, Alejandra, Andrea, Johanna, Kevin, Kimberly, Samuel, Jesse, Alexander, Katherine, Kathyana, Bibi, and Geovani. He is also survived by his brother, Luciano Abril, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will miss his warm heart and generous spirit.

Gonzalo’s life was one of quiet strength, filled with love, laughter, and an enduring devotion to those he held dear. Though he may be gone from our sight, he remains forever in our hearts.

A visitation of remembrance will take place Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 2 PM – 5 PM at Seymour Funeral Home. Burial will follow at a later date.
