GOLDSBORO, N.C. — An 18-year-old Goldsboro man is facing an attempted first-degree murder charge following a shooting that occurred last week on Central Heights Road.
Jamir Lowery was taken into custody by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, Sept. 28, and is being held at the Wayne County Jail without bond.
The incident occurred on Thursday, Sept. 25, when Goldsboro Police Department officers responded to a shooting call on Central Heights Road at approximately 2:59 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Jacob Laboy, 18, of Goldsboro, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Laboy was transported to UNC Health Wayne for treatment and was later released from the hospital.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division immediately responded to the scene and began investigating the incident. Following their investigation, detectives identified Lowery as a suspect and secured a warrant for his arrest on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
Three days after the shooting, Lowery was apprehended by Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies on Perry Farm Lane. He was served with the outstanding warrant and confined to the Wayne County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending further court proceedings.
