Mae Lee Parson Kennedy, longtime resident of West Pine Forest subdivision, Mount Olive, passed away early Monday morning, September 15, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Elizabethtown. She was 97.
Mrs. Kennedy was a retired life insurance agent. Up until six months ago, she maintained her home, and it was when she was 95, that she gave up driving her car.
She attended several local churches through the years, to include Friendship Free Will Baptist near Pink Hill, Free Will Baptist Church of Mount Olive, and Unity Baptist in Mount Olive.
Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her daughter, Patricia Patterson, of Elizabethtown; three grandsons, Doug Roberts of Texas, Brad Roberts and wife, Audrey, of Elizabethtown, and Brock Roberts and wife, Amber, of Clarkton; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Marshall Kennedy; a grandson, Channing Roberts; and a son-in-law, William “Bill” Patterson.
A gathering to remember Mrs. Kennedy’s life will be Thursday, September 18, at 4:00 p.m. in the Calypso Cemetery in Calypso, N.C. The Rev. Terry Hardison will officiate.
