Debra “Debbie” Ann Parrott, 67, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025. She was born in Wayne County on October 28, 1957.
Debbie is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Howell; and by Virginia “Ginny” Lancaster Pate, a beloved woman who took Debbie in as a teenager and became the mother figure she never had. Ginny’s love and guidance shaped much of who Debbie became, and her impact remained deeply rooted in Debbie’s heart throughout her life.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Parker Parrott; son, Josh Pate and wife, Ashley; and granddaughter, Sadie Pate. Debbie is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Debbie dedicated much of her life to teaching—a true calling for her. She found joy in helping others learn and grow, always bringing patience, passion, and kindness into her classroom. Her students remember her not just as a teacher, but as someone who truly cared.
Outside the classroom, Debbie was someone who cherished life’s simple and beautiful moments. She found peace at the beach, where the sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun reflected her calm and joyful spirit. She lived life with an open heart and a positive outlook, touching many lives with her generosity and warmth.
Above all, Debbie was devoted to her family. Living in Harkers Island with her husband, they would enjoy time spent by the water. She deeply loved her only granddaughter, who brought her endless joy and pride. Her bond with her son and daughter-in-law was strong and filled with mutual love, respect, and gratitude.
Debbie’s light will continue to shine through the many lives she touched. She will be remembered for her love of teaching, her zest for life, her kind heart, and her unwavering devotion to her family.
