September 6, 2025, 35, Goldsboro —
Mark Lee Strong, 35, passed away on Saturday, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and love.
Born in Dorset, United Kingdom on September 14, 1989, Mark was the cherished son of Phil and Maria Sutherland. From a young age, Mark carried a deep sense of duty and compassion for others, which guided the path of his life.
He proudly served his country in both the United Kingdom British Army and Navy, where he displayed courage, discipline, and loyalty to his fellow servicemen and women. Following his military service, Mark continued to dedicate his life to helping others by working as a paramedic with Wilson County Emergency Medical Services. Whether responding to emergencies or simply offering comfort in the most difficult moments, Mark was known for his steady presence, quick skill, and genuine care for those in need.
Beyond his service to others, Mark lived a life rich in passion and joy. He trained and practiced in Jujutsu, finding both discipline and peace in the art. He loved to travel, often taking adventures with his family, and was always eager to discover new excitement and experiences. Yet, above all else, his heart belonged to his family. His wife and sons were the center of his world, and he found his greatest happiness in being present with them. Roman and Mason were his pride and joy—his “eyeballs”—and every decision he made reflected his deep devotion to them.
Mark’s life was a testament to strength, kindness, and service. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, both personally and professionally.
In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by his loving wife, Mariah Kay Strong; his beloved sons, Roman Lee Strong and Mason Lee Strong; his sister, Kayleigh Brown; and his brother, Liam Sutherland and wife, Milly.
Services will be announced at a later date.
A life lived in service to others is never forgotten.
