United Way of Wayne County Marks Centennial Milestone with Community Celebration

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — United Way of Wayne County will commemorate its 100th anniversary of community service with a Campaign Kick-Off & 100th Year Celebration Parking Lot Party on Tuesday, September 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 309 N. William Street in Goldsboro.

The milestone celebration will simultaneously launch the organization’s 2025 Community Campaign and feature the announcement of the United Way Board of Directors’ Issue Focus Bold Goal, which will guide the nonprofit’s strategic direction for its next century of service in Wayne County.

“United Way has been a part of Wayne County’s story for a century,” said Bernadette Dove, Board Chair of United Way of Wayne County. “This event is both a celebration of our history and a bold look at our future. We’re thrilled to partner with community friends and invite everyone to join us for food, fun, and a chance to hear what’s next for United Way and Wayne County.”

The free, public event will bring together several community partners, including the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, AccuCopy—which is celebrating its own 40-year business milestone—and WGBR Goldsboro’s Greatest Hits radio station.

Attendees can enjoy offerings from local food vendors, including Gents Bounty Barbeque, Brooklyn Pizzeria, Great Harvest Bread Company, and Texas Roadhouse.

United Way of Wayne County has served the local community for a full century, supporting various programs and initiatives aimed at improving lives throughout the county. The organization’s centennial celebration represents both a reflection on past achievements and a commitment to continued community impact.

All community members are encouraged to attend the free celebration. For more information, contact United Way of Wayne County at 919-735-3591 or visit unitedwayne.org.
