Apartment Fire Displaces 50 Residents in Goldsboro, Three Hospitalized

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A structure fire at an apartment complex on Keller Way Drive Sunday afternoon displaced 50 residents and sent three people to the hospital, according to the Goldsboro Fire Department.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 1:59 p.m. on August 31, with the first unit arriving within five minutes at 2:04 p.m. Firefighters battled the blaze for more than two hours before bringing it under control at 4:33 p.m.

All residents have been accounted for, fire officials confirmed. EMS personnel transported three individuals to UNC Health Wayne for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

The emergency response involved multiple agencies working together to combat the fire and ensure public safety. In addition to the Goldsboro Fire Department, crews from Rosewood Volunteer Fire Department, Little River VFD, and Oakland VFD responded to assist with firefighting operations. The Goldsboro Police Department, Wayne County EMS, and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office also provided support at the scene.

To maintain fire protection coverage for the city during the extended emergency response, four volunteer fire departments—Marmac, Elroy, Belfast, and New Hope—were placed on standby.
